When deputies arrived after getting a report of a man being chased by a truck, the saw a Ford Excursion in the backyard of a Port Charlotte home sitting on top of a smashed fence. They also noted tire marks where the vehicle came through the front yard, through one fence, and then into the back yard where it crashed into a second fence, according to a news release from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, Nellie Angelica Roman, 37, was sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running, deputies said.

Roman allegedly told deputies that after returning from a local bar, she and her boyfriend got into a feud. She also said she got inside her Excursion to get away, lost control and then crashed into the fence.

Deputies then made contact with her boyfriend, who had white marks on his forearms that he got from jumping over the fence, who told them that he had fled to his home down the street following the feud — which was about him talking to another woman on the phone, the release stated.

At that point Roman reportedly got into her SUV and started following the man — even as he cut through yards to avoid her, backing over a mailbox, then driving toward him through a fence at a high rate of speed, according to the report.

The man told deputies that when he then tried to jump over another fence, Roman also drove through that fence.

Deputies charged Roman with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and she’s sitting in the slammer on no bond.
