FORT WALTON BEACH – Evan John Taylor was arrested on Jan. 16 and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He is accused of shooting his brother, Jason Smith, in the groin with a .357 revolver.
The shooting took place on Newport Drive in Fort Walton Beach.
An incident report states Smith was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries to his legs and hands. The victim spoke to Okaloosa County deputies at the hospital, so apparently the wounds were not life threatening.
Smith told investigators he and his brother got into an argument “over Taylor not picking him up from work,” the report said. The argument became physical.
“When they were separated Taylor went to his bedroom. Smith proceeded to walk down the hallway and Taylor stepped out of (a) bedroom pointing a .357 Smith and Wesson,” the report said. “Smith stated Taylor pointed the gun at his waist line and shot him.”
Smith told deputies he was shot in the hand “because he was trying to shield his genital area as a natural reaction,” the report said.
Taylor, 26, admitted shooting his brother, the report said
