ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg father faces attempted murder charges after stabbing his son multiple times over missing items, including lima beans according to a police report.

The father, 54-year-old Donald Wynn, was arrested Friday morning at their home on 17th Street South.

Wynn had been estranged from his son, 26-year-old Donald Gilley, until recently.

The two now lived together and Wynn told authorities that he accused his son of stealing personal items of his, including a can of lima beans.

Wynn said they got into an argument, he grew angry and attacked his son.

When officers and Fire Rescue arrived at the home at 10:08 a.m., Gilley had wounds in his abdomen, upper chest and lower abdomen from a folding-blade pocket knife.

The son was taken to Bayfront Medical Center and received emergency surgery that saved his life, police said. He is now in critical but stable condition.

Wynn was taken to Pinellas County Jail and charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree.
