Jesse Reese is a man with a huge appetite for marijuana, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
After his arrest Wednesday near a field of marijuana, Reese, 50, told deputies he had been growing almost 700 plants as tall as 15 feet to be consumed by himself and a few friends.
The field in a dried pond was connected by a trail to his home in a trailer on North West 52 Court Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
A pilot in the sheriff’s Air Unit spotted the field shortly before 3 p.m.
Deputies and drug agents assigned to the region’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force and the Multi-Agency Drug Enforcement Team pulled up 696 plants that weighed 438.5 pounds. While seizing the plants with an estimated value of $700,000, the agents noticed Reese riding a bicycle in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
After admitting he planted the crop, Reese was charged with trafficking in marijuana in excess of 25 pounds or 300 plants. He remains held in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
RIGHT PLANT – WRONG COUNTY…THAT’S ALOT OF PERSONAL PLEASURE!
